WHOA! Is this thing on? Yeah, I don't post here anymore. Maybe once every two years or so. And I don't make any updates. But I'm still alive, still tangentially interested in gaming, and glad that people still come here to use the resources I set up so long ago. I've been getting a lot (if you consider 10 over 5 years a lot) of requests to update the Marvel Super Heroes DiceRoller and Character Generator applications, or to open up the source code so that someone else could. These apps were written in RealBasic ages ago, and they were my very first programming attempts, and I have been telling people that they would probably be able to make better versions by starting from scratch than using my old, junky code. That said, I recently got several requests about software and decided to crack open the old RealBasic project files to see if they were salvageable. I found one interesting tidbit as I poked around in there: the first DiceRoller release was in 1999... ten full years ago! It seems fitting to dust these off and get them running on modern Macs; version 1.2 is a Universal Binary that runs natively on Intel-based Macs, and there is now also a Linux version as well. Whatever your OS, you can get the new 1.2 versions of both applications here: the Software page
Well, it certainly has been a long time, and I apologize. Things are still going slow here on site as you can see, but we still are working hard. Life has just thrown us some heavy curves, but we hope to be coming back on track again. In on site game news, Project: Gladiator is coming back, and is currently up on the games area. A few technical problems with the posting at present, but we are working out the bugs right now on it. Hope everyone is still around and checking in, and hope to see everyone soon! Peace!
Whoa! I guess it's not so strange that there hasn't been an update in this space for almost two years; I've been busy, what with life, the universe and everything, but it's about time for a check-in. Jeff e-mailed me a note saying howdy and letting me know that the site was down, so I immediately sat down to resolve it. Truth be told, I knew the site was down, since I was in the process of transferring it from one hosting provider to another, but I didn't realize anyone was still visiting it, so I didn't make it a priority to get it back online. So I got things working again, and fixed a few longstanding bugs that might have prevented people from getting logged in (including myself! Hint: if you're unable to log in, make sure you're on "www.heroplay.com" instead of plain "heroplay.com".) A local Seattlite and I had been talking about collaborating on a new site along the lines of the XPG site we put together and then using that as a template for a brand new Heroplay. Spiffy flash navigaton, groovy post-linking and other tools. Fun! So I always have eight gajilion irons in the fire, so nothing is imminent, but rest assured that Heroplay is not gone! |
