In the early eighties, TSR put out a roleplaying game called, aptly enough, "Marvel Super Heroes." The set was less numbers-based, and geared toward first-time players, people unfamiliar with role-playing games.

The system really took off with the release of the Advanced Set in 1986. New powers and rules were added, the rank system made more flexible, and a number of supplements were released afterward to make for an even richer gaming experience.

Check out the sidebar to download PDF versions of the rulebooks and other accessories for the game. (The new Weapons Locker file is adapted from the original version by Andrew McFayden. Thanks Andrew!) Johan Thorstensson from Sweden sent me the Excel-based character sheet for the classic MSH game. It has male, female, and non-specific versions, as well as an included font. It requires Microsoft Excel (97 or later recommended.)

There are also programs for the Marvel system on the Software page (choose the Software page on the menu above).

The Deluxe City Campaign document doesn't contain the entire two booklet set of rules, adventures, and campaign advice for GMs, just the section on running adventures and long-term campaigns (Chapters 8 and 9). The text was written by Alan Varney, Edited by Jean Blashfield Black, and published by TSR in 1989.

The last link provides a screen-size version of the Universal Table from the Advanced Set, as well as a larger one for really zooming in.

Help keep the PDF books freely available by sending me a crisp new dollar or two via PayPal. It'll help me keep focused on bringing new content to zSH rather than doing actual work! (Blech!)
